16 in London!

Last friday, the 17th of January it was 16th birthday. Doubtless a really different one, spent in Sweden and England.

I used to spend my birthdays with my friends and family, people that knew me and people that made me happy everyday. This year, though, was completely different. I was very happy that my friends in Portugal remembered, but I missed them even much that day. Anyway I spent it in my new home (Sweden) with my new friends and I can say it was better than I though it could have ever been. It was funny and an amazing experience.

My day was kind of busy:I woke up at 5 am to swim and then I went to school, at 4pm I was in Västerås Airport, ready to go to London. At 9pm I was finally in one of the greatest cities in the world.

Now the funny stuff: I spent the weekend in London and it was a big shame that it was so few time. I did half of the things I had planned to do and I didn't do any shopping!!! While in there I visited:

- Sherlock Holmes Museum (which I'm a great fan of so I just loved it!)

- The Science Museum (it took me 4 hours to see 1/4 of the museum, I hope I'll go back to the most interesting museum ever)

- I walked a lot in London to see the Big Ben, The Parliament House, The Tower bridge and the London Eye.

The funniest thing was of course running in the Hyde Park.

Here are the best pictures:

I'm now back home and ready for a lot of study and to keep fighting for my dreams.

Back from Portugal and to my blog...

I've been absent for some time, I went to Portugal and I didn't have Wi-Fi, so it was hard to write in here.
So a summary of what I have been doing: I was here, in sweden, till the 19th of January, the day I left to Lisbon when I got there the first thing I did was meeting my family and friends. I really missed them and I didn't remember how good it was to be back. I was glad I could be there again, to work out in a warm place and eat good food!!! (I've just eaten lunch in school and it was really bad swedish food)

So christmas came and I had the usual party at home with family and food. I got some presents and a great surprise. I tried to not eat too much once christmas is the international day of calories.

Good christmas food by my grandmother :)
My cousins with the christmas tree
Some friends I met

I had two running competitions where I did well both new year's running competitions in Portuguese called São Silvestre. I will write about them in my Triathlon page.

Between Christmas and new year I hang out with my friends, I ran and cycled outside (in sweden that's not possible).

For New year I traveled to Algarve (South of Portugal) and I celebrated it there with my cousins and parents. the weather was great and in the 1st of january I did my first 2014 dive in the beach of "Manta Rota" in Tavira.

Now I'm back to Västerås and once it's much colder here I got a bad cold. Anyway I'm back to my normal trainings and I've started school today. It's hard to get back to the daily routine but I'm working on it.

I hope you like it :)

First Snow!!

*I wrote this post 1 month ago but I didn't have time ti the pictures (most interesting). Now here they are*

Finally the snow is here!! Last weekend it was the coldest days of my life and it snowed a lot. The temperatures went down to -9°C and quickly everything went white outside.

Of course I enjoyed these first snowy, when on Friday I got home I lay down in the snow and I really liked it. It feels very weird to look around and see so much snow but I'm trying to see it like a normal think in Sweden.
This weekend was great, even with this cold I enjoyed a good running outside and the fist days biking in the snow.

Anyway I keep going to school by bike, people call me crazy, but I find it very funny and better than taking half an hour to pick up the bus to school.

It's now only 10 days!!! to go to Portugal in Christmas vacation and I'm feeling very happy about it, I'm looking forward to get some warm weather :D.

Yesterday I started using Snapchat and I find it very funny so if you have one just message me.

I hope you enjoy my experience and if you have some tips don't hesitate in telling me.

It gets messy...

It gets harder, the close I'm getting to go back to christmas. How will it be? Will I have time for everything I wish to do? Will my old friends be there as they used to? Will I be the same person?
The time appears to go really slow

I'm now, 4 weeks away to my plane trip and it's one of the things I mostly think about. I try to be strong, I try to live my new life and leave these sad thoughts behind. Each night it gets harder to sleep.

But in the mornings I wake up and I face the day as I have to. I study hard and harder to be one of the best, I work out really hard thinking that it can get me to a better life. Although it gets hard to swim, cycle and run in my own thoughts and with only my brother to share it, the conversations start to make no sense.

Anyway I've been facing the cold and leaving home at 19pm, with -2°C to run, alone in the darkness of an unknown world.

Yesterday I spent 3 hours, studying swedish, so I can maybe get into this country's culture and say that I know it and I like it!

I've missed my family a lot, more than ever... They have been great, I speak to my grandparents and cousins every day, and I can surely tell you that it's always the best moment of my life.

I hope it's not too boring to you, once I'm sharing my feelings with  you about this big experience.

Weekend in Falun

Hi everyone, I've been absent for some time, but I'm hoping to be back now.

I will start writing here every week so you can take part in my experience.

This weekend I've been in Falun, a beautiful city in the middle of Sweden. It was an amazing time and I'm back with great news.

My first goal, going there was to see a high school for triathletes. I liked it and the conditions to practice are really good. They everything a triathlete needs to work out in the winter.

This is the velodrome with scary curves

The first time was just slowly trying the new bikes

Next day I had an indoor triathlon competition, with 400m in a swimming pool, 8km (42 laps) in a velodrome and 2km running.
I felt really good and I leaded from the swimming to the running. The swimming was easy and well done in 5.00 (about 1 minutes advantage to the other girls), the cycling was hard and fast, doing 8km in about 12 minutes and cycling in 45/50 km/h in a velodrome with deep curves that seemed walls. In the running I felt very good.

On Sunday I was running with poles in a hill called "the Killing hill", a new way of working out and the beginning of the training to ski.
The killing hill is just near a ski jump track

There was also time to visit the mines of Falun, one of the biggest in the Europe.

Now I'm back home, ready to rest for one more week.

And... moving again!!

Hello,
It has been 3 weeks since I wrote here last time, I'm sorry about that the time hasn't been much.

September in Sweden, has been a cold month, with temperatures between -2 and 11°C, and I've been trying to survive it :)

I finally moved to my new house, I left the small apartment were I lived in the first month and I started my new life in my nice House. I'd to pack everything again and move it all again.

Here is my old apartment and half of our bags.

This last 2 weekends we have been in IKEA buying our furniture and it has been a hard work building it all. I love my new room even it is still a bit empty, but it's my quiet and warm place.
Here there are some pictures of my room and the house:

I Hope you like it :) and it was 6pm when I took this pictures :/

Work in school has been hard and I've been very tired, I don't have net at home yet and that's one of the reasons why I haven't been writing here lately.

I had my first tests and project works this two last weeks and I did it quite well.

I've news about TRIATHLON but I will write them in its Page.

About Sweden and my feelings about it I think it's quite nice, I like people and "things" here have great conditions. It's always cold and I really need to buy new, warm clothes... I miss my friends and family but I try not to think to much on it as I'm meeting new friends.

Thanks for reading and leave comments :)

First month in Sweden

It has been now 1 month I'm here in Sweden and my life here is starting to get in a normal daily routine. I've a good school schedule, well conjugated with my daily trainings.

I've already visited the hospital as I sprained my ankle 1 week ago :/ and I guess it's a good service but not as better as we (Portuguese) think...

I'm adapting quickly to school but it has been hard dealing with swedish.
I'm finally moving for my definitive home next weekend, so I have already been in the real swedish IKEA :D

Two weekends ago I was in Stockholm watching WTS with the best triathletes in the world, I'll later post some pictures of it...

Hope you like it, I'll keep you in touch of my strange experience.

P.S.: We are
in summer and it's 8º!!! I'm freezing :/
